Greene County hosted Harlan Community in a girl/boy soccer twin bill on Monday night in Grand Junction. Harlan won the girls’ match 8-1. Greene County girls’ head coach Marilyn Tasler reported to Raccoon Valley Radio the lone goal for the Rams was scored by senior Emma Schroeder on an assist by junior Aubrey Heupel.

The Class 1A fourteenth ranked Greene County boys improved to 5-0 on the season with a 3-0 shut out of Class 2A Harlan. The Cyclones fell to 4-5 with the loss. Sophomore Luis Velazco scored two goals and Junior Gutierrez, a junior, had one. Velazco also runs track & field and he ran the opening leg of Greene County’s 4 x 800 relay in Jefferson at the Ram Relays, then went to Grand Junction and played soccer, scoring twice.

Head Coach Carl Behne said he was proud of how the Rams played against a tough 2A team. The Rams led 2-0 at the half. Goalkeeper Cael Fisher and the defense kept the Cyclones off the board for the third shut out of the season for the Rams, and the third in a row.

The boys host West Central Valley tonight in Grand Junction.
