After months of fundraising through a myriad of ways, from burning conservation reserve program areas for farmers to hauling water for cement crews, the Adair Fire Department has reached its goal.

The Adair Fire Department received its final community donation to put their total over $50,000 collected for the completion of their new fire station. With the $50,000 raised, the department will now receive $100,000 in matching donations from the Adair Community Foundation, Agri Grain Corp. and Owner Revolution, Inc. The department began the challenge last fall, and Adair Fire Board President Steve Bireline describes their success, “There isn’t words that can express how I feel now to be able to say that we’re over the $50,000. The last five to 10 thousand (dollars) was really hard to raise because the community had given a lot and you just had to reach out a little bit farther, a little bit deeper, and it’s all finally come together.”

Bireline says the remaining interior work on the new station includes hanging interior doors, finishing flooring, and constructing offices, a meeting room and kitchen. He says they plan to have it all completed by June 21st for a grand opening event during the 64th Annual Jesse James Chuckwagon Days. Bireline says everyone is invited to check out the community’s fire station, and more information can be found here.
