The Panorama girls track team saw another school record fall Thursday with Lydia Knapp besting the top discus mark by nearly two full feet.

Knapp’s throw of 137 feet, 4 inches shatters the old mark of 135’8″ that was set by Kayla Muyskens in 2007. The Lady Panthers were competing in Underwood with a partial team to make up for last week’s ACGC invite being canceled by weather.

Morgan Johnk again improved on her best mark in the high jump by clearing 5’4″. Coach Greg Thompson says she just barely missed getting over 5’5″ with her hips clearing by a couple inches but her calves grazing the bar just enough to knock it off. Had she succeeded it would have gotten her an automatic spot in next week’s Drake Relays. As it stands Thompson believes she has a strong chance of qualifying anyway.

Panorama finished second in the team standings just 10 points behind the lead despite not competing in three events. They currently hold the number one spot in the Iowa Coaches Association Power Rankings for Class 2A. They’ll have one more tune up before Drake on Tuesday when both the girls and boys teams visit Audubon.
