A group of individuals from Greene County recently returned from a tourism workshop.

The “Guide Training and Certification Program” was held at the Central Iowa Expo Administration Building in Boone earlier this month. Participants learned methods of how to make a more memorable experience for visitors and network with over 100 other tourism representatives across the state. Those who attended included Greene County Chamber and Tourism Board President Lisa Kuhl; Pat Richards and Joyce Kurth with the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower; Greene County Chamber Office Coordinator and Thomas Jefferson Gardens Board member Beth Vander Wilt; and Ginny Showman and Mary Weaver with Thomas Jefferson Gardens.

The workshop was one of Kuhl’s goals when she took over as Chamber President. The workshop was sponsored by Travel Iowa, Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau, Boone County Convention Bureau, and Iowa State University Extension.
