The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The meeting began with an annual public awareness report on natural gas emergency procedures with water and gas superintendent Craig Kintz. Next, the Council approved a lease proposal from Alliant Energy for a portion of the fire department property. Alliant seeks to rent the land from June 1st to September 30th for a temporary substation and will remove the concrete slab that currently sits in lieu of paying rent. The Council also set May 13th as the public hearing date for the fiscal year 2019 budget amendment, reviewed the fiscal year 2018 audit report and approved a resolution to transfer almost $1,900 from the solid waste fund to general fund for property cleanups.

Following that, Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library Pat Sleister gave an annual library report. After tabling action from a previous meeting, the Council approved retaining Rod Rumelhart of Rumelhart Financial Services as their EMC Insurance representative until October of 2020. Finally, the Council reviewed the nuisance property list and approved creating an additional administrative fee of $150 for contract nuisance cleanups.
