A Yale man was given a suspended prison sentence for operating while intoxicated.

Guthrie County Attorney Brenna Bird says 48-year-old Alan James Buttler was sentenced to five years in prison and all but 30 days of the sentence was suspended for an OWI third offense conviction, a class D felony. This conviction relates to an incident that occurred on December 10, 2018. Buttler pled guilty to the charge on March 11th. He was sentenced to three years of probation and an alcohol-monitoring program. He’s also ordered to pay a $3,125 fine and other surcharges, successfully complete a course for drinking drivers and submit a substance abuse and mental health evaluation. Buttler’s driver’s license was suspended for six years. The Panora Police Department, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
