Junior Gutierrez scored a career best nine goals and Class 1A sixth ranked Greene County won 13-3 by the 10-goal rule in non-conference boys’ high school soccer on Monday night in Grand Junction. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams improved to 10-5 while the Panthers fell to 5-6.

Gutierrez told Raccoon Valley Radio he’d never scored that many goals in a match before. He leads all of Iowa in goals and points. Luis Velazco had two goals, while Austin Delp and Alex Roberts each had one. Isaiah Losee, Yunior Carballo, and Roberts each added an assist, as the Rams had 47 shots and 31 shots on goal.

“I’m so proud of our seniors, Austin Delp, Isaiah Losee, Victor Santos, and Joe Anderson. This was our Senior Night and a great way to close out our home regular season.”

The Rams play at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on Thursday at 7 p.m. as the second half of a girl/boy doubleheader. The postseason begins on Monday, May 20 in Grand Junction at 6:30 p.m. vs. Council Bluffs St. Albert in a Class 1A Substate 8 quarterfinal.
