A fire destroyed a tractor and damaged a planter in Greene County Thursday.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says a deputy and the Jefferson Fire Department responded to the incident at 1:18pm on P Avenue south of 310th Street. When fire crews arrived on scene, the Case IH MX200 tractor was on fire, but fire crews were able to use the new high pressure fire truck to put out the flames before it did further damage beyond the tractor and planter.

The tractor was a total loss and the planter sustained some damage. Williams points out they weren’t able to determine the cause of the fire due to the amount of damage to the tractor. He adds that no one was hurt in the incident. The farm equipment is owned by Dale Betts.
