The 100+ People for Perry group met for the second time of 2019 Monday evening, and decided it would be Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) program who would be receiving the organization’s 14th donation.

Three projects, each relating to the Perry School District in some way, were presented to members in the Cellar at La Poste. After hearing the proposals, the members voted on which to support. PACES was then announced as the beneficiary, and everyone wrote them a $100 check. All total, $7,300 was given, which will help support the program’s summer session. PACES is a before and after school program for kids in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, and it is almost entirely funded by outside grants and private donations such as this one. Director Mary Hillman was on hand for the meeting, and expressed her gratitude for the group’s generosity.

The goal of 100+ People for Perry is to make four large donations every year, in order to invest in the City’s future and enhance the quality of life for residents. To date, the organization has awarded $95,600 to 14 projects, each of which has been located entirely in Perry. The group is always looking for new members, and anyone interested in joining can reach out to organizers Mark Powell at 515-465-4641 or mpowel@fdplawfirm.com, Tom Lipovac at Tom.Lipovac@perry.k12.ia.us, or Linda Kaufman at kaufmanlinda1948@gmail.com.
