A pair of freshman led Perry to their first softball victory of the season Saturday as the Jayettes defeated IKM-Manning 12-1 in the consolation game of the Paul and Mary Ann Graves Classic. Macy Kilmer blasted a bases clearing double and finished with a career high 5 RBI’s after returning to the lineup following some missed time with a concussion. Peyton Tunick threw five strong innings in turning in Perry’s best pitching performance of the season. The youngster scattered 5 hits.
Perry was able to rebound from a disastrous first round game after losing to Baxter via the Mercy Rule. Lydia Olejniczak smashed a solo homerun to start the game but that was the lone bright spot for Perry as the Jayettes struggled defensively with 9 errors.
Perry returns to action tonight against 3rd ranked Carlisle.
