A quick response from area fire departments salvaged a farm building that caught on fire near Bouton Thursday evening.

Bouton Fire Captain Karl Harris says emergency crews were called at around 5:45 p.m. to 13277 N Avenue, just southwest of the City. Harris said the blaze started when the homeowners were burning grass on their property. The flames got underneath one of the outbuildings and caught the south end of it on fire. The Bouton Fire Department was the first to respond, and they were soon assisted by crews from Perry, Woodward, and Minburn, which each provided water trucks.

Harris said there was extensive damage to the main building and the one next to it, but crews were able to save the majority of both structures. They were also able to save the majority of the building’s contents, which was mostly automotive parts. Harris points out that there were three buildings right next to each other on the farm, and had things gone differently the homeowners could have lost all of them. There were also no injuries reported. The Woodward Police Department and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services also aided at the scene.
