The 2019 Dallas County Fair begins this week, and the public is invited to what organizers feel is one of the best fairs in the state.

One individual who makes that claim is Dallas County ISU Extension Director Jeff Jackson, who points out that the fair may not be big put packs a big punch. “It’s a small fairgrounds, which is beautiful. You come in and you have no worries about, ‘Oh my goodness, I just lost my child!’ Or there’s no concern as to you’re tired from walking, trying to cover one end of the fairgrounds to the other. It’s small, it’s compact, but it has some of the same entertainment, some of the same food, some of the same feal and atmosphere that the State Fair does on just a smaller location. So it makes it just a big bang in a small area, and it’s just so great!”

Jackson adds, another reason why the Dallas County Fair is popular is that it’s affordable. There is a cost for the evening entertainment, such as the Joe Diffie concert on Friday night, and there’s also a charge for food and rides. However, entry into the fair, parking, the daytime entertainment, and the exhibits are all free. The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will be at each day of the fair, starting Wednesday, as we will broadcast live, update competition results, play music by the gazebo, and provide public address services.
