The ACGC softball season came to an end Wednesday as they fell to Van Meter 10-0 in five innings in the second round of regional play.

Van Meter jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and threatened to blow the game open in the second with the bases loaded and no outs, but pitcher Savana Fuller was able to get a pop out and a double play to escape without giving up a run. She put another zero on the board in the third, but gave up two runs in the fourth to make it 5-0.

The roof caved in on the Chargers in the fifth inning when Van Meter put up five runs to enact the mercy rule with the final two coming with two outs. The ACGC bats were silenced by pitcher Macy Blomgren, who pitched five no-hit innings with just two walks and a hit by pitch while striking out nine.

Van Meter advances to play again on Friday. ACGC’s season ends with a record of 14-17.
