The 2019 Dallas County Fair is now in full swing, and tomorrow will be the busiest day so far.

A wide assortment of activities will run between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Adel, and Dallas County ISU Extension Director Jeff Jackson says the cost to participate in the festivities is very affordable. “It’s free, it’s always been free, and it continues to be free, because the Dallas County Fair Board finds great sponsors to help cover the door charge. So parking is free, the entrance is free, so use that money to buy food, to go out and enjoy some of the entertainment. And so come on out and really enjoy a great time with the family for very little cost!”

Jackson adds, while there is a charge for the evening entertainment, like the Joe Diffie Concert and Saturday’s Figure 8 and Circle Track Racing, there’s also an assortment of shows that happen throughout the day that have no cost. Specific free events happening tomorrow include: the 4-H and FFA junior feeder, beef, cat, and poultry shows; the 4-H and Clover Kids pet shows; and the kids pedal tractor pull. Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will once again be broadcasting live from the fair from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Throughout the day, we will update contest results, play music by the gazebo, and provide public address services.
