The 2019 Dallas County Fair is officially in the books, and by all accounts it was a big success.

Dallas County ISU Extension Director Jeff Jackson said though they don’t keep an official tally of visitors the fair, he felt confident that this year’s was one of the most heavily attended in its long history. “This has got to be one of the best Dallas County Fairs I’ve experienced in my three years and even beyond! The weather’s been perfect, the Fair’s been great, the entertainment’s been good, people just seem happier, the animals have come in well, and the static exhibits are large and there’s a lot of them in there. It’s just been a wonderful fair!”

Jackson felt a big part of the success of this year’s fair was the first-rate entertainment, such as the Joe Diffie Concert, free shows on the main stage, and the demolition derby. He added, people seemed to respond well to the increased number of activities to take part in, which is something they’ll continue to grow next year. “I think the main thing that we learned is that people love activities. And so having a lot more out here for people to be a part of, a lot of the yard games even. Just having more of those ambiance kind of things on the surrounding of the fairgrounds is what people are excited most about.”

The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio was at each day of the Dallas County Fair this year, as we broadcasted live, relayed contest results, played music by the gazebo, and provided public address services.
