It’s a quiet week for Greene County High School athletes as far as organized activities are concerned. Football Camp for the Rams, including players in elementary and middle school, as well as high school, begins in Jefferson on Monday, August 5. High school football players will conclude next week with an outing to Camp Dodge at Johnston.

Official high school Fall sports practices start on Monday, August 12, not only for Greene County athletes, but in the entire state. New Greene County head football coach Caden Duncan explains the gradual process getting his players to full pads. “We’ll start off with two days with helmets on, no pads. After that, we’ll go three days where we can have shoulder pads with our helmets, then after that, it’s full pads. The first day of full pads will be that Saturday (Aug. 17).”

The Rams will travel to Alleman on Friday, Aug. 23 for a controlled scrimmage vs. North Polk, before opening the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 vs. Perry in the annual “Battle for the Cowbell.” All Greene County High School football games can be heard again this season on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
