A Minnesota man was arrested and charged with a felony drug offense east of Guthrie Center Monday.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 8:50 a.m. a deputy was called to respond to a black SUV registered in Colorado that was parked in the 2400 block of Highway 44. The caller believed the vehicle drove through his yard on Justice Avenue south of Bayard, and deputies observed tall grass in the front end and grill of the vehicle. Fifty-four year-old Emil Henry Juntunen of Albert Lea was found sleeping in the back seat. Juntunen told deputies that he pulled over because he was tired.

The criminal complaint alleges Juntunen was very confused, having no idea where he was. While Juntunen was obtaining insurance and registration information the deputy saw a black case labeled “THC.” Juntunen gave law enforcement consent to search the vehicle, and THC oil and vape pens where located. Juntunen was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance third offense, a class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended, both simple misdemeanors.
