The corn has been shucked and is ready to serve, so people are encouraged to head to Adel today for the 40th annual Sweet Corn Festival.

There are activities held throughout the day, including: the Sweet Corn 5K; the parade down Main Street; food, craft, and information vendors around the square; a car show downtown; kids activities; live music; and special presentations at the Adel Stage and Pavilion. Of course, there’s also the free sweet corn, which will be served from 11 a.m. until it runs out. The Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce purchased seven tons of corn for the event, which they say should last for a couple hours, but they encourage people to get there early to make sure they get some. The Chamber also points out that while the line for sweet corn may seem long throughout the day, it tends to move quickly.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will also be at the Festival from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. today. We will broadcast live, play music on the square, and provide public address services.
