Today is the first official day of practice for Fall sports teams at Iowa high schools, including the Greene County HS volleyball team. Chris Heisterkamp begins her second season at the helm. She’s been an assistant coach for the Rams as well as a head coach at Southeast Valley (Gowrie).

The Rams will look to improve on last season’s 7-22 overall match record and 2-5 mark in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, good for sixth place in the eight team league. North Polk (Alleman) and Nevada tied for the top spot in the conference a year ago. NP and Gilbert will be entering their last year in the HOIAC. The Comets and Tigers will be joining the Raccoon River Activities Conference for the 2020-21 school year. West Marshall (State Center) will be joining the HOIAC a year from now.

Greene County returns no fewer than six players with one or more seasons of varsity experience. Junior Lily Muir was named to the HOIAC second All-Conference team last season as a sophomore, while senior setter Aubrey Heupel received recognition on the honorable mention list as a junior.
