All the preseason scrimmaging is done and now the Fall sports teams from Greene County High School begin competition this week that counts on the record.

The first to get underway is cross-country. Head Coach Jeff Lamoureux and assistant Lindsey Duncan will have the girls and boys teams at the Jester Park Golf Course tomorrow (Monday) for the Woodward-Granger Invitational. The Rams will also run on Thursday the 29th in Ames on the Iowa State University Course at the Gilbert Invite.

Ram volleyball starts on Tuesday the 27th. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams will be at home in Jefferson at the middle school gym with a pair of Class 1A programs in Collins-Maxwell and Gladden-Ralston. The action starts at 5 p.m. with C-M and the Rams, followed by C-M and G-R. The final match of the evening will have the Rams playing G-R. On Thursday, Greene County plays at Perry.

The football season starts on Friday, Aug. 30 with Greene County hosting Perry at 7 p.m. at Linduska Field in Jefferson in the renewal of the “Cowbell” series. First year head coach Caden Duncan’s team returns a number of players back from the 2018 squad that qualified for the Class 2A playoffs.
