The Perry Public Library will be hosting an interactive event this Monday titled “Remembering the Apron,” and the public is invited to embrace some nostalgia.

Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says the program will be led by special guest Sheila Craig, who will discuss and show aprons from her large collection for attendees. “She’s a retired (ISU) Extension educator and a grandmother, and so she’s been sharing her knowledge and love of the apron for nearly 15 years. She will talk about fabrics, trims, (and) styles, as well as how aprons were used in the past. And I know that I don’t wear an apron like our mothers and grandmothers used to, and so it is kind of nostalgic and we have fond memories of aprons. And maybe this will help bring them back!”

There is no cost to attend the program, registration is not required, and it’s designed for both men and women. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the library’s large meeting room. For more information about this and other upcoming programs, stop in or call the Perry Library at 515-465-3569.
