Following last Friday’s 28-0 victory over Class 3A Gilbert, Greene County begins Class 2A District 9 football this Friday with its longest road trip of the season. Coach Caden Duncan and his fifth ranked Rams (4-0) travel southwest to Shenandoah (1-3) to face a Mustangs team that defeated Riverside (Oakland) last Friday to snap a 12 game losing streak. Until last Friday, the Mustangs had not won a varsity football game since week nine of the 2017 season.

Although the Greene County offense was held to a season low point total in the victory over Gilbert, they scored all 28 points in the opening half, threw just six passes in the second half, and played ball control to pitch their second shut out in four games. Of Greene County’s first four opponents, only Nevada has scored against the Rams’ defense. Saydel scored seven points on a pass interception returned for a touchdown against the Greene County reserves, and Perry was also kept off the scoreboard.

Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
