Genesis Development will no longer provide recycling services in Jefferson.

Genesis Central Region Director Carrie Wilde says effective October 31st, Genesis Development will be ceasing all recycling services at their drop-off location in Jefferson. Wilde tells Raccoon Valley Radio, Genesis has had a 28E agreement since 1992 to provide recycling services with the Greene County Recycling Agency. Wilde notes there is a meeting on Wednesday evening in Jefferson to discuss an option to continue the recycling services, with the goal of having an entity in place by the 31st. All recycling drop boxes at the Genesis facility must be removed by the 31st. 

The change will also impact the other business at the Genesis location with Custom Boxes Online. Wilde adds the Genesis Board will determine what to do with the company’s bailer that was purchased a few years ago and will not purchase the second bailer that they received grant funds for through the Jefferson Rotary Club and the Greene County Community Foundation. The funds that Genesis received will be returned to those entities. Wilde thanks the Genesis Board for their dedication and supportive nature through the years, and especially through the transition to Imagine the Possibilities, which will take effect on October 28th.
