The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2019 football season. Greene County is sixth among the 54 Class 2A football programs. The RPI is used to determine playoff qualifiers that don’t qualify automatically, as well as help determine seeding for the 16 team playoff field, which begins play on Nov. 1.

Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams are one of seven teams in 2A that are 6-0 overall and 2-0 in their district. The RPI is based on three factors: 1-team record (37.5%), opponents’ record (37.5%), and opponent’s opponent’s record (25%). At 6-0 the Rams are batting 1.000 for their record. Opponent’s record is 18-36 (o.333), not the weakest in 2A, but not among the leaders. The opponent’s opponent’s record is 249-237 (.5123) for an overall RPI of .6281.

The Rams take on Atlantic on the road on Friday night. The Trojans are 2-4 overall and 1-1 in District 9. Their RPI ranking is number 37. Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
