The Perry varsity football team failed once again to notch their first win of the season this week, falling on Friday night at Boone by a score of 41-0.

Neither team could get much going in the first quarter, with both forced to punt on each of their possessions during that frame. The second quarter got more interesting, though, with turnovers by both teams on three straight drives. The Bluejays got a fumble recovery and interception from Ever Tobar with the Toreadors in the red zone at the time. The first points of the game were scored late in the second on a six-yard run by Boone’s Morgan Smith. They then converted the two-point conversion to go up 8-0 at halftime.

There was a completely different narrative in the second half, and it was established from the word “go.” Boone’s Tegan Bock took the opening kickoff of the third quarter 95-yards for the Toreador’s second touchdown of the game. They then got two touchdowns from Ryan Hulse in the third and scored on the first play of the fourth on a run by Ryan Ungs. The final touchdown of the game was scored on an interception return for a score by Boone’s Cole Burge, and the game ended with a final score of 41-0.

The loss brings Perry’s record to 0-8, and their final opportunity to get a win will be next week at home against Humboldt. You can hear all the action live on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS, with pregame at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7 from Dewey Field.
