The right to be called “District Champion” will be decided on Friday night in Grimes, as the 7-1, Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs host the 5-3, Carroll Tigers.

The nine-week regular football season concludes on Friday, and an automatic bid into the State Football Playoffs is on the line.

The Mustang’s opponent this week, the Carroll Tigers, are currently on a four game winning streak, and 4-0 in District play.

Carroll has won each of its District games by at two possession score differences.  Carroll’s defense has been dominant over the past month.  In fact, the Tigers have only given up one touchdown in the past two games

The ground game has also been a strength for Carroll.  In their most recent win over Humboldt this past Friday, the Tigers had 354 yards in the rushing attack, alone.  Carroll also tallied 114 yards in the air, as well.

DC-G’s defense will need to slow down the rushing game of Carroll to keep the chances favorable for the Mustangs.

Scott Heitland’s team will take the field at 7:30pm Friday night on their home turf in Grimes versus Carroll, with the winner earning an automatic bid into the State Football Playoffs.
