A Minburn teenager was injured Thursday afternoon after being rear-ended by a school bus from the Ogden School District.

The Iowa State Patrol reports, at just before 1 p.m. they were called to the intersection of Highway 169 and 180th Street north of Minburn. A 2005 Ford Focus driven by 18-year-old Danielle Shreffler Mooers was travelling southbound on the highway and slowed to turn left into a farm residence on the east side of the road. While yielding to northbound traffic, a school bus driven by 43-year-old Lisa Marie Dunbar of Ogden failed to stop and rear-ended the car. Mooers’ vehicle suffered severe rear end damage, and she was transported by Life Flight to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The bus was transporting around 20 students from the Ogden Cross Country Team to their state qualifying meet in Mount Ayr. None of the students were injured in the wreck, nor was Dunbar. In spite of the wreck, the boys team managed to qualify for the State Cross Country Meet. The incident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Minburn First Responders and Fire Department, Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and the Dallas Center Fire Department also responded to the scene.
