Dallas County long distance runners will head to Fort Dodge tomorrow to see if they can outpace the competition during the State Cross Country Meet.

The event will be at the Lakeside Golf Course at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge, with the runners from Perry, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, and Dallas Center-Grimes taking part in the class 3A boys and girls races. The girls competition will commence at noon, with the boys to start at 12:30 p.m. Perry is sending one runner, with sophomore Jaylene Karolus representing the Jayettes after finishing 9th in last week’s qualifying meet at Atlantic. The entire ADM girls team qualified, as did junior Nate Mueller on the boys side, and he enters as the top-ranked runner in class 3A according to the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. Runners for the ADM girls team to watch include freshman Geneva Timmerman and junior Hanna Welch, who both qualified individually.

Finally, DCG will make up much of the field, as they qualified as a team for both the girls and boys races. That includes all seven runners on the girls team finishing in the top 15 at the qualifying meet in Pella, including senior Lara Kallem, juniors Megan Sterbenz, Miranda Muhlstein, and Emma Angus, sophomore Hannah Little, and freshmen Meredith McDermott and Kami Smith. The boys team had four runners achieve that feat, including senior Bradley Ramsey, and sophomores Aiden Ramsey, Jacob Storey, and Owen Pries.
