The 2nd year of the Student Activities Department Advisory Council’s “Bluejays with Books” program will begin on Friday November 8th at 1:10 PM at Perry Elementary with our first session.
BLUEJAYS WITH BOOKS: “Leaders are Readers.”
Ø Connect high school and elementary students.
Ø Emphasizes the importance of reading.
Ø Shares the values of “The Bluejay Way”.
Ø Encourages activities participation.
Ø In the process of interacting with elementary students, high school students reinforce core values and leadership principles.
Structure
Ø Students involved in the Student Activities Department Advisory Council read books to elementary classes. (4th Grade)
Ø The selections relate to core values of “The Bluejay Way”.
Ø Following the reading –
ü Students connect the value to the book within a lesson and answer questions from students.
ü Students encourage participation in school activities and conclude with the school fight song.
