Greene County’s high school football season is over, but head coach Caden Duncan may field some inquiries from coaching staffs at Algona and OABCIG this week. That’s because the only two teams to hang losses on the Rams will face off this Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls in a Class 2A playoff semifinals. Saturday’s winner will meet either Waukon, number 1 in the RPI (Ratings Percentage Index), or number 11 Williamsburg.

Algona, third in RPI, is 11-0 and the Bulldogs rolled to a 48-15 quarterfinal round victory over Greene County last Friday night in Algona. OABCIG is also 11-0 and the Falcons are fourth in the RPI. The Rams ended the regular season with a 35-13 loss in Ida Grove.

The two teams are both high scoring, but go about their business differently. The Bulldogs are a run first team that rolled up 377 of their 391 total yards vs. Greene County on the ground. The Falcons are an empty backfield spread offense team that relies heavily on quarterback Cooper De Jean, who accounted for over 400 yards of total offense vs. the Rams.
