Tuesday, November 19th

1:58am: A Traffic Stop at 220th Street and Doreen Wilbur Drive resulted in Luis Rodriguez of Carroll being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

4:39am: A caller reported neighbors arguing loudly at 307 West Lincoln Way Street. The officer spoke to a female, who advised she had been arguing with her boyfriend. She advised he had gone for a walk to allow things to cool down.

9:42am: A caller advised of a male, open handed spanking a young child at 508 North Elm Street. The officer did not locate the subjects at the store, but is investigating the reported event.

10:28am: Justin Schrack spoke to an officer concerning a Civil Issue occurring with a local contractor and himself in Holy Cross, IA. He was advised to report the issue to his local authorities, as it was occurring there.

1:18pm: An officer assisted the Juvenile Court Officer at the Courthouse in collecting a Urine Analysis Collection Kit from a juvenile.

1:44pm: Casey’s reported two subjects writing checks at the business over the past few days at 508 North Elm Street. The checking accounts are closed, or have no funds in them. The officer is gathering information and investigating.

2:40pm: The Wild Rose Casino requested an officer at 777 Wild Rose Lane for a possible sick opossum in the area. The officer located the animal, who appeared to be fine and released it in a farm field.

2:53pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 800 Block of West South Street.

5:22pm: Officers investigated a Two Vehicle Property Damage Accident at the intersection of North Locust and East Washington Streets. A 2000 Ford F150, owned and operated by Hasan Sadikovic of Des Moines, was southbound on North Locust. Sadikovic failed to yield to an eastbound vehicle on West Washington Street and the two vehicles collided in the intersection. The eastbound vehicle was a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg, owned and operated by Ricky Knight of Jefferson. The Sadikovic vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damages, while the Knight vehicle suffered a reported $5000.00 in damages. Sadikovic was cited for, “Fail to Obey Yield Sign.”

5:41pm: A caller advised of subjects burning leaves in the yard at 406 East Harrison Street. This is not a violation of ordinance and is allowed year-round in Jefferson. The officer took no action after checking to ensure the fire was attended.

5:48pm: Officers were advised of the strong odor of Natural Gas in the 100 Block of Ram Drive. Alliant Energy was contacted to check on the area.

8:27pm: The Story County Sheriff’s Office requested a Jefferson officer to advise a Jefferson resident that their family member had been involved in a traffic accident in Story County. The officer passed the information to the resident.

11:28pm: Dispatch received a 911 Hang Up Call from a cellular phone. Officers made contact with a female at 205 North Locust Street and found her to be fine.
