Greene County senior wrestler Will Hansen has prepared for his final high school wrestling season by hitting the weights. That’s the answer you get when Hansen is asked what he’s done since last off-season to become a better athlete. “I’ve definitely lifted a lot more, and wrestled a little bit, but really hit the weight room.” Hansen was asked to talk about the role strength plays in the sport of wrestling. “Strength plays a big part. If you don’t have any muscle, you’re probably not going to be able to do anything.”

Technique is also important to wrestlers. He added, “Technique I feel comes into play. Once you’re strong, then you can master technique.”

Hansen and his teammates begin the season on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Ogden at 5:30 p.m. as part of a quadrangular with the host Bulldogs, Van Meter/Earlham, and PCM (Monroe).
