Additional charges have been filed against a woman who caused a lockdown at the Greene County Middle School.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, 36-year-old Jessica Jo Peterson of Ogden was initially charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for third-degree burglary. She allegedly stole items from a school staff member’s vehicle. Peterson faces additional charges include a serious misdemeanor for unlawful possession of prescription drugs and a simple misdemeanor for fifth-degree theft.

The charges stem from two separate incidents at the middle school in Jefferson Monday morning. Greene County School District Superintendent Tim Christensen told Raccoon Valley Radio Peterson was first reported to police before the school day started, allegedly stealing various items from a locker room. Christensen notes Peterson tried to re-enter the building around 10am, which forced the building to be in lockdown. A lockdown means no one is allowed to enter or leave the building. Christensen notes no students or staff were in danger during the incident. He says Peterson then entered the administrative building, where staff members kept her from leaving until police arrived and arrested her. The lockdown was cancelled within ten minutes.

Peterson told officers she was homeless. However, during the investigation, officers found out she lives in Ogden. Peterson was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
