The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with the retiring Board agenda, which included examining financial books, approval of requests for modified State Supplemental Aid, and accepting the abstract from the recent election. The second part of the meeting began with swearing in the recently elected Board members, and selecting Tim Canney and Bart Banwart to continue as the Board President and Vice President, respectively. During the Focus on Learning section, there was a report on the curriculum revision cycle and a review of student achievement goals for the current school year.

The first several action items approved dealt with the bonding for the new elementary building, including: appointing UMB Bank as the paying agent, bond registrar, and transfer agent for the first series of bonds; the tax exemption and continuing disclosure certificates; and the authorization of the issuance of $10 million in general obligation bonds. Following that, the Board approved a mental health services agreement with LifeWorks, as discussed at a previous meeting. Other items approved included: continuing the school resource officer agreement with the City of Adel; a search agreement with Grundmeyer Leader Services for the activities director position; next year’s preschool tuition; and an agreement with Solution Tree for on-site math professional development.

Finally, the Board approved the construction documents notice to bidders for the elementary project, and set a public hearing for February 10th to approve the plans and specifications for the building.
