Class 4A number 5 Gilbert scored early and often en route to a one-sided Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ basketball victory over Greene County in Gilbert on Tuesday night. The Tigers won 85-15 to improve to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference while the Rams dropped to 0-4, 0-2.

Gilbert led 58-10 at halftime and had five players score at least nine points. Sophomore Ava Hawthorne led the way with 20 points. Gilbert was 35 of 66 from the field with 10 goals from three-point range. They went two for six on free throw and turned the ball over just four times.

The Rams had 20 turnovers in the first half and 26 on the night. Greene County made six of 32 shots from the field including one three-point goal, and they were two of six from the foul line. Sophomore Brianna Habben had eight points with four by senior Izzy Bravard and three from junior Sadie Wilson.
