A candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States paid a visit to Perry Sunday afternoon, with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar hosting a campaign event at Hotel Pattee.

This was the second trip to Dallas County for Klobuchar since declaring her intentions to seek the Office of President, as she previously stopped in Adel last July. On Sunday, the ballroom of the hotel was filled with people eager to learn more about the Senator, and she described the challenges facing the nation and how she plans to address them. She also discussed her bipartisan background, which she feels will go a long way towards winning. “I have passed over 100 bills, more than anyone else that’s in Congress that’s running for the highest office in the land. And I have done it because I know how to stand my ground, and also find common ground. That is going to matter to voters. That is going to matter in a general election.”

After her speech, Klobuchar took questions from the audience, which ranged from the farm economy to trade concerns, and how she plans to unite a divided nation. She then took some time to take pictures and chat with attendees one on one. The Senator is one of 14 individuals currently in the running for the Democratic Presidential nomination, and is the sixth one to visit Perry since the start of December. Like the others, she’s hoping a strong showing at the February 3rd Iowa Caucuses will launch her to a victory in the June primary election.
