The Raccoon River Pet Rescue animal shelter in Perry is very close to officially opening their doors, but before that can happen they still need a few supplies.

It’s with that in mind that the RRPR Board is hosting a “Pet Shower” next weekend. On Sunday, February 23rd, the public is invited to bring an item to donate to the shelter, and in return they will get a sneak peek of the building before it’s filled with animals. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer for the shelter. The event will run from 1-4 p.m. at the facility, located on Ivy Place just to the south of Highway 141 on the west side of Perry. Organizers have made a list of specific items they need — such as cat litter, toys, carriers, wet and dry food, and treats — though the public is also free to use their imagination.
