The novel coronavirus 2019 has certainly impacted everyone in Iowa in some way, including law enforcement agencies.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams has had to make some adjustments when it comes to his employees and the county jail. Williams reminds everyone that the law enforcement center is closed to the public and there will be no in-person visitation at the county jail until further notice. In response to COVID-19, Williams explains the procedure that dispatchers are now having to go through, at least for medical calls.

“The dispatchers are asking everybody if they have a headache, dry cough, breathing problems, (or) a sore throat, any of the symptoms of it (COVID-19). If you think you have any of the symptoms (of COVID-19) don’t call 911, call your local ER (emergency room) or your doctor to get their advice. If you still need an ambulance, by all means call (911). But we are going to be asking those questions on every medical call we have, so we ensure the safety of our EMS (emergency medical services) people.”
