In response to the ongoing economic concerns created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) has announced several resources available to local business owners.

There are three crucial resources available through the IEDA’s Iowa Business Recovery Assistance. The first is the Small Business Relief Fund, which was approved by Governor Kim Reynolds last week. Through the program, small business owners qualify for financial assistance and tax deferrals if they have been impacted by coronavirus. The IEDA emphasizes that the program is not first-come, first-served, but applications must be submitted by March 31st at noon.

The next resource is a fund created to support Targeted Small Businesses (TSB), which have zero or one employee. Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says this particular program is important in Perry because it affects people like artists and musicians, as well as businesses that don’t staff employees which are numerous in the downtown area. The TSB applications are being processed in order of receipt until funds are exhausted, so those interested should file requests as soon as possible.

The third resource is through the Small Business Association, which activated their Economic Injury Disaster Loan program following Reynolds’ statewide disaster declaration. The low-interest support loans are available for up to $2 million, and there’s no deadline to apply. To learn more about these resources or to submit applications, click the link below.
