dmacc-dch-donation

Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics in Perry recently received donations from a few area businesses and organizations, which will aid their fight against COVID-19.

The hospital received a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE) from the DMACC VanKirk Career Academy, which included gowns, facemasks, and gloves. They also received supplies from Paul’s Pest Control in Adel, as well as from Dr. Larry Spray with Lakeshore Family Dental in Panora. All of the PPE items were certified as okay to use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in all hospital functions. The hospital administration thanked all three groups for their generosity and support, and they hope to continue the partnerships into the future.

As a reminder, DCH is currently not accepting donations of handmade items such as masks, though other medical centers in the area have. Administrators point out that hand-sewn masks, while well-intended, haven’t shown the proper level of protection to be used in most hospital settings. The hospital does however encourage donations of approved PPE supplies, to help them keep up with the demand created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Equipment can be delivered to the Dallas County Health Department, located at the Human Services Campus north of Adel, though people should call ahead to 515-993-3750 and set up a drop-off time.
