Governor Kim Reynolds recently extended the public health emergency, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which is also helping those who live in rental properties.

The proclamation now includes suspending eviction notices while the public health emergency is in effect. However, tenants and renters are still required to pay their rent once the proclamation is lifted. Some Jefferson landlords are taking the proclamation a step further and forgiving their tenants’ April rent payment. According to the landlords, they wanted to show a measure of good faith and understanding that several people may be unemployed or have been impacted by COVID-19.

Sources say at the federal level, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was directed to suspend all evictions and foreclosures through the end of April for those who have  mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration.
