The COVID-19 outbreak has caused the postponement of many events and other goings-on in Guthrie County, including a veterans memorial project.

Guthrie County Veterans Memorial Committee Chair Trudi Tam says they were hoping to install the four new granite walls engraved with submitted names of the County’s veterans at the existing memorial site at the Guthrie County Courthouse by Memorial Day, but the engraving has been delayed. Almost a thousand names are being inscribed on the walls, which the committee now hopes to erect by late summer. There is still room for submissions, and cost is $60 to submit with proof of military service required. For information on how to submit, call Tam at 641-757-0709, Mike Johnson at 515-523-1200, or Ila Buker at 641-755-2632.
