The COVID-19 pandemic has caused several cancellations and delays for Greene County 4-H’ers to be aware of in preparation for the 2020 Greene County Fair.

Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Willms says sheep and meat goat weigh-ins have been cancelled, rabbit tattooing has been postponed and poultry pullorum testing has been waived this year. Additionally, any livestock identification deadlines have all been extended to June 1st. This includes breeding beef, dairy cattle and goat, dog, horse, meat goat, poultry, sheep and swine, while rabbit ID’s are still due by July 1st.

As for tagging procedures, 4-H families are asked to contact Willms to obtain ear tags for livestock. Families are reminded to keep good biosecurity practices in mind. Those that do need to tag animals are asked to document it with a photo and upload the image to 4-H Online.
