The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

In following the Governor’s emergency public health declaration due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held electronically. The first items on the agenda were a National Crime Victims Rights Week proclamation, and an emergency proclamation for the City of Perry by Mayor John Andorf. The Council then held a public hearing regarding an application for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for water and sewer projects. Hearing no objections, they approved the grant application of $800,000. The Council then approved a change order for $9,980 and pay request of $12,322.45 from Jensen Builders for the hangar project at Perry Municipal Airport.

In new business, they approved a contract with Region XII Council of Governments to prepare and submit a CDBG application for exterior housing rehabilitation projects, as well as a resolution to provide public notice of the intent to procure the grant. Next, the Council approved a standard form of agreement with Ethos Design Group to be the architects for the Perry Public Library renovation and finishes project, and also the general conditions of the contract for construction. Other items approved included: the addition of Narale Cerna to the Perry Fire Department; the Fiscal Year 2019 annual audit report; an agreement to become a member of the Safety Group Central Iowa South; an agreement with Perry Economic Development authorizing tax increment finance payments to Hotel Pattee; a change order of $2,276 for the McCreary Community Building renovation project; and a resolution providing for minimum staffing and pay during the coronavirus pandemic.
