The keys to the future of the Perry football program have been handed to current Independence assistant coach and former Decorah and Luther star Bryce Pierce.  Pierce was approved Monday night to lead the program following the resignation of Matt Hardy during the offseason.  Pierce was a multi-sport high school and collegiate student-athlete.  He served as an assistant this past season on the Independence football staff while also serving as the head girls basketball coach.  He will take over the Physical Education duties vacated by Scott Pierce who will move into the Athletic Director’s position.  The two are not related.  Current Activities Director Tom Lipovac was excited about the hire.

“Coach Pierce’s standards and expectations are consistent with the core values of Bluejay Way and a one team educationally based student activities program. He has a vision and program development action plan designed to guide students in personal growth and achievements.  The Perry Community School district is excited to have coach Pierce as a leader in our activities program.”
