The main event for Greene County Relay for Life was supposed to happen tomorrow, but due to COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions, the event was forced to be pushed back.

Event Chair Tori Riley says the event has been rescheduled to Friday, August 7th from 5-9pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. The original intent of moving the event from the traditional Saturday to a Friday evening was to get additional individuals and families to participate. The fundraiser will still consist of a community barbecue meal, a survivor walk and reception, along with walking laps on the indoor track, a silent auction and luminaria ceremony.

Due to the main fundraiser being pushed back to August, the event leadership team has scheduled an additional virtual event for Friday, May 15th. The “Ready, Set, HOPE!” event will be a jump start to fundraising for the year and will be done through Facebook Live. It will consist of team challenges, information from the American Cancer Society and lots more. The public is invited to participate.

Additional information will be released on the event in the coming weeks.
