Today’s Sports Page continues a conversation about the new Greene County gymnasium being built along with the high school and Iowa Central Community College Career Academy on the northwest side of Jefferson.

Sam Harding is volunteering his time to be the school district’s construction representative on the project. Yesterday he talked about the seating capacity of 1,500, and how the floor will be big enough to hold three full size wrestling mats, and for basketball, portable hoops like those used in the NBA and manufactured in Jefferson at AAI will be rolled in and out as needed for games.

Today, he talks about volleyball and commencement. “It’s got side-court volleyball that will also accommodate the seating, so it’s going to be nice for volleyball matches, wrestling  matches, basketball, and it’ll be a great spot to hold graduation. It’ll be air-conditioned, and will seat all 1,500 people comfortably. It’s gonna be just a wonderful facility for the school and the kids!”
