Many people from the Perry community and the surrounding area gathered Saturday morning at the Perry High School Performing Arts Center to say farewell to Lindsay and Claire Brown.

The sisters were killed in a single-vehicle rollover wreck on April 28th, and they were honored with a solemn memorial surrounded by family, friends, and several people from the public who felt the loss of their passing in some way. The service was organized by the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Perry, and presided over by Reverend Paul Burrow from United Methodist Church. There were few dry eyes in the auditorium as the lives of 8-year-old Lindsay and 5-year-old Claire were recounted, underscored by poignant music selections. Following the ceremony, the girls were laid to rest at Violet Hill Cemetery, but not before receiving an escort by emergency responders from throughout the area.

Lindsay and Claire were among the six children under the age of 11-years-old with a 16-year-old driver who were involved in the rollover wreck near Jamaica. Claire was reported deceased at the scene, and Lindsay died after being taken by Air Ambulance to Mercy Hospital. Their 11-year-old sister Katelyn and 7-year-old brother Eli were injured in the crash, but both have since returned home. Also injured but recovering are 16-year-old Micheal Crane of Perry, 11-year-old Randy Seratt of Dawson, and 5-year-old Carter West of Dawson. The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
