Agencies were called to respond to a house on fire southwest of Guthrie Center Thursday.

Guthrie Center Fire Chief Dave Embleton tells Raccoon Valley Radio that his department responded at about 11 a.m. to a fire at 2025 265th Street, owned by Mikealjohn and Roberta Ashby. Embleton believes that something accidentally caught on fire outside while the residents were disposing of items and burned the west-facing side of the structure. No persons or animals were inside the residence and Embleton says one of the occupants kept the fire contained by the time his department arrived. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour, creating ventilation and looking for any hot spots. Minimal smoke and water damage was reported. Panora Emergency Medical Services and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
