Twelve grants and two scholarships were recently awarded to nonprofit organizations and students in Woodward, through the Myrna Reynoldson Mayfield Trust.

The 2020 grant cycle included $43,825 awarded, with $2,500 of that devoted to scholarships for two Woodward-Granger seniors who are continuing their education. Among the notable grants were: $4,000 to the Woodward Golf Club for pool furniture; $4,500 to Woodward United Methodist Church for education; $4,500 to the Public Library for programming; and $5,000 to the Police Department for the reserve officer program. The biggest awards were a pair of $7,000 grants, with one given to the Woodward-Granger High School and Middle School Music Department to update their sound and recording system, and the other to the Parks and Recreation Department for concrete work at Honor Park.

The Trust’s goal is to provide financial support through annual grants, which directly benefit the citizens of Woodward and surrounding rural areas. Funds are awarded to nonprofit organizations operated for educational, civic, cultural, historical, recreational, charitable, and religious purposes. See below for a complete list of awardees.

Scholarships totaling $2,500 will be awarded to 2 Woodward-Granger High School students and graduates for their post-high school education.
